Visual Literature by Marc Nash

Below are three visual representations of small bits of text from my Kindle novel “A,B&E”.

I’ve always been interested in non-linear ways of telling stories and all three of these images share the notion of words and meaning emerging from an inchoate mass of letters, once the human mind has gone to work organising them into sentences. The three images of a drinking straw in a glass, a perfume atomiser and an egg timer all appear in the novel, but it was only after publishing the novel that i started thinking about these visual representations and collaborated with the designer Esther Kezia Harding to produce them.

This year I’m hopefully going to raise a modest amount of money through Kickstarter to make a 5 minute kinetic typography video that will continue to look at the pursuit of words and meaning being portrayed in new non-linear ways. Keep watching this space or @21stCscribe on twitter for progress on that.

Hope you enjoy these three visual literature pieces.
