Year Out, Year In by Misa Buckley
The end of December brings to a close a year of ups and downs, losses and gains, and lessons learned. For me, it saw the first anniversary of becoming a published author, a second release and three contracts. And while things are tough financially – as there are for most – I can’t complain.
Still, I look on tomorrow with a certain amount of excitement – first of a new month in a new year. My calendar, bar a few dates, is blank and yet full of opportunity. I’ve no idea what these next twelve months will bring, but I’m determined to grab life and live it to the max.
Unlike most years where I make resolutions that are either vague or too big to keep, this year I keeping them simple and within reach. I’m going to be saving a small amount each week. I’m going to lose enough weight to get into a pair of jodhpurs so I can start horse riding again. I’m going to (re)learn how to play the violin.
And, of course, I’m going to keep writing. I’ve an over-the-year goal of 500K and a schedule of submissions to make. Three releases to celebrate and – I hope! – more contracts. I’m going to expand my repertoire beyond speculative romance. All in all, I’ve a busy year and one that I’m really looking forward to sinking my teeth into.
What plans do you have for 2013?
